Question winch purchase and install

I am new to offroad and the jeep world and just recently purchased a 2017 Sahara Wrangler unlimited with 3.5" lift and would like to add a winch. Can I winch be install on stock bumpers? or will I have to change and get a new front bumper? Any suggestions?
Thanks

im a newer jeep owner myself as of last august and also have a stock bumper. i do want to get a winch but honestly im going to upgrade the bumper first. i have seen it done on a stock bumper but id rather get a more sturdy bumper before adding the winch. just food for thought

If you want to add a winch to the stock bumper you need a plate like this

If you plan to upgrade your bumper ever, I'd just wait to add a winch until afterward.

+1. You can indeed do it. The downside is that is $170 that would otherwise be put towards a new/better front bumper. I guess if you want to stick with a factory look, which some do, then the plate is the way to go.

Thumbs up stock bumber plate

Thanks everyone! Will probably spend the money on a new bumper after looking at the cost of the plate.
