Default Pro comp wheel - 17x8 or 17x9?

I'm considering one of the pro comp wheels and they list either the 17x8 or 17x9. Which one do I want if my tires are going to be 35x12.5x17? Thanks.

I drew up some diagrams to help myself see the difference between the two when I was wheel shopping. The center line of the 17x9 with 4.75 inch backspacing is about .5 further out from the jeep than the 17x8 with 4.5 inch backspacing, meaning the tire will stick out a little farther. The 8 inch wide rim will hold the tire a little better when aired down but wont wear quite as evenly. I run a 35/12.50 on an 8 inch rim with 4.6 inch backspacing, almost exactly what you would have with the 17x8, and the tread doesn't stick out form the fender flares much but the bulge of the sidewall sticks out a little bit. Hope this helps.

I guess I failed to say that either rim would work with that tire size. I got caught up in the technical part and didn't really answer your question.

a couple questions..
Will you be airing down to go off road?
What tires do you plan on running?

I don't plan of airing down that much, at least initially. I will be running 35x12.5x17 BFG KM2s. Thanks for your help.

Well, BFG recommends a rim width of 8.5 - 11" So your wheel choice is really up to you. If you use them on the trail the 8" would work better at holding your bead.
