Floor heat not working.

floor heat vent doesn’t work. The turn knob seems to have some restriction when I turn it as well. Almost like it wants to spring back to vent. Ideas ?

The source of your problem is with this white gear assembly which is located to the left of your glove box.
What tends to happen is that dirt will get in the grooves of that gear assembly over time and make the gear harder to turn. Then since the gear is harder to turn, when you turn the vent selector dial, the cable which attaches to that peg on the gear will slide outward towards the end of the peg on which it is attached.
The current best way to fix would be to do the following.
1. Pull that white gear assembly off, clean all the grooves (front and back) with a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol, put some white lithium spray grease into the grooves to re-lubricate.
2. lube the cable where it comes out of the cable sheath with the white lithium grease as well.
3. Re-assemble, then get a small zip-tie and secure it around that peg so it pushes and holds that cable up next to the gear assembly. This will prevent it from sliding outward on that peg and thus provide additional pushing force by not allowing it to slip outward on the peg.
Pretty common problem. I've had the same.

you are the best. Thank you

I ended up replacing the cable after finding it bent behind the turn knob in the dash. Floor heat works now, however, I was not able to get it to move into the defrost selection. No matter what I did, it would not work. The white plate/selector will not turn.
