What's the better way to reduce rack noise?
I have a Garvin Expedition rack on my JK. Love the rack. Works very well. But it's noisy like most other racks.
I'm thinking about getting the wind fairing for the rack to help reduce some noise. My other thought is if I mount some lights to the front of the rack, will help reduce noise, will it remain the same amount of noise, or would it make the wind noise worse?
Any thoughts or experience with a similar situation is welcome.

Hey there. I have the same rack. When I put mine on Chris Garvin said I would need the wind deflector. I thought maybe I could do without it. Went only a week and ordered the deflector! Made a world of difference. I would highly suggest adding it.
I have heard that putting something like a light bar helps some as well, I only have experience with the deflector. I can not recommend it highly enough.

Yeah I can see the argument that it should be standard. Garvin doesn't know though how anyone will use their racks and some put on a light bar or similar something and would not use the deflector so from a cost standpoint it makes sense it isn't standard. It is metal and very well made so I imagine it would be costly to add knowing some wouldn't use it.

When I had a Gobi, I built a custom deflector but I always wondered if I could have welded an angle to the trailing edge of the tube to make it more like a foil or wing. I read in a few places that the tube shape itself creates noise because it creates turbulence. In theory, a foil would streamline the airflow and quiet it.
