Purchasing 2016 wrangler unlimited sport need assistance with build ideas
im purchasing a 2016 wrangler unlimited sport and am looking for some recommendations for parts
looking for:
2-2.5 in lift kit
new tires to fit on existing 17x7.5 inch wheels
steel bumpers and a front winch
soft top for summer use
step rails/rock deflectors
any suggestions would be appreciated
i am guessing a few people have read and not replied due to this begin such an amazingly vague question...with way WAAAAY too many variables.
budget, type of use/wheeling, what you like the look of, etc.
the same goes for the answers you will get for all that stuff. what one person loves, another person doesnt... there are a few companies that tend to stand out for each one of the items you listed, but again, depending on your budget and needs, you may choose a different route.
as far as budget goes im looking to stay around 5k-7k and not looking to go anywhere to crazy just some mild offroad trails, but i would like to have the ability to do more if i want to in the future
I went with a 2.5" teraflex spring and shocks kit. I did choose to install a front and rear track bar and AEV relocation kit. I can say this Jeep rides AWESOME, and handles better than stock. I'm absolutely thrilled with how it turned out. Rides and tracks flawlessly at any speed off road and freeway.
I'm running stock 33" tires and wheels off a 2020 gladiator I got as take-offs.
I think with bumpers, suspensions parts, and wheels I was just under $4k for the build. The wheels were the biggest expense at $1600. I love the Falkens and they're dead quiet on the road. I hate that hum sound that some tires create.
I like the tube crawler bumper look. I don't care for the big plate steel anchors bolted to the front look. Plus they're way, way lighter so you don't feel like you're driving a tank.
So congrats on the Jeep. I think Sport is the perfect sweet spot for these JKUs. I test drove some stock Saharas/Rubicons and they were so much heavier I guess from the electronics and leather or something, they just felt like lead. The sport feels light and lively. I did put a TJ sahara sticker on mine though, just to make Jeep guys scratch their heads.
Harbor freight is running a deal on their 13k synthetic lead winches right now too.
Anyway, this is what I ended up with. Those lights are 8" ebay LED cheapies with 7" KC covers which fit fine as they stretch a bit.
