My buddy talked to the owner of Metalcloak today and he said they re-engineered the 6pack shocks to address the leaking issue about a year ago. Does anyone have feedback on the newer design?
My buddies shop has installed a couple sets this year, I can check with him on feedback. It was the nitrogen that leaked on some before and you had to check them a couple times a year. You don't see that many of them around since they are built for a specific type of build and most people just don't understand that. I doubt they would be a good fit with your stretch build on factory axles.
For one thing they are large, the second thing is that they work by giving you more up travel in your set up. depending on how you set yours up it is likely you are not going to have the clearance for extra up travel.
My friend just received his. We were both confused about the 15” of travel. They are no longer than the 11” shocks he already has. I now see how their advantage is all about the up-travel.
Yep, he will have less droop than he had before and if he was bump stopped to prevent tire rubbing he will actually loose articulation from running the 6 pack shocks. I have never understood why people showed so much interest in those shocks. And the price is just crazy. I guess some think the more you spend the better you get. They do work well in the right set up but most don't set up shocks correctly.
