Default Pop up camper hard top

Ursa Minor
So anyone attempt to alter or make a pop up style camper top for a JKU. The pic is of a Ursa Minor top but comes with a huge huge price tag.

I have tried to figure out ways but frankly I don't know if there is a better way. That being said I am selling my Ursa Minor top for $4300 if someone is interested.

The Ursa Minor top is a whole top. Weighs ~200 lbs more than a normal top and goes on and comes off the same as a normal JKU hardtop. There are quite a few people who take them off when not camping.

To each his own, but man, I would really just prefer a small tow behind, or a removable roof tent. I've done a lot of camping and the ability to stand up inside my tent is a huge priority.

Small pop up camper is the best. At least your comfortable then, you have heat, some power and space to stretch out after a long day in the saddle. With the ursa, you are in the saddle after you are out of the saddle.

To each their own, I have had the tent and pop up campers, etc. If I had to go back to that I would probably give up camping. The Ursa Minor has been something I have used far more frequently because it is on and ready to go, so I actually go rather than spending all my time packing up to go. You can stand up in the jeep with the panels removed, when it is butt cold I can remote start the vehicle to get warm and I can be packed up and on the road in 10 minutes or less.

To the OP, very sorry this has went off track. To answer your question, I have looked at and even considered trying to make my own version. I believe it could be done if you are very handy but when you factor the costs, time and work required I believe it is going to be a wash.
