Default What are these? Lights? Sensors?

Hi there!

New JK owner and new to the forum. I’ve had my 2018 JK for about a month and love it.

I went to install steps and saw 4 of these sensors (?) underneath my Jeep. All connected to wires and secured using the screw as the rock rails. All 4 near tires. I can’t figure out what they are or what they do. Help!?

Hoping Jeep enthusiast will be able to identify it easily! Thanks in advance!

JT

They look like LED lights to me, probably added by the previous owner. Is there a switch somewhere that looks added?

They're expensive and (supposed to be) good quality lights, you'll want to keep them even if you choose to relocate them elsewhere.

Excellent! Thank you, everyone!

Unfortunately, no switch, ANYWHERE! I’ll have to buy and install one but at least the lights are there! Bonus!

The previous owner had mounts for lights near the side mirrors. I’m assuming they took them off and the switch before selling it.

Have you opened the door and checked to see if they come on with the door open? I can see someone wiring it up like that. You'll want to trace the wires back and see where they lead for your switch and power.

Yeah, not wired to door sensor. That would have been nice. I’m going to have to stop being lazy to trace the wires... I just didn’t want to have to take off parts to trace them. Previous owner did a helluva job installing them.

Does this look like it may have previously been connected to a switch? Driver side.

Seems like it wouldn't be too hard to trace the wires from the light itself. It's most likely one of the front lights running to a source and then all the other lights are just linked to it. What is that tucked up behind the OBDII port?

Or are you suggesting that is where the wiring loom is terminating?

Behind the obd2 port looks to be the factory amp. Somebody did a really nice job hiding. I can tell you that most of us would be through the grommet on the firewall there with lights/ switches. I think I've even got an air compressor breather coming through there.
