Default OME or Ultimate FT 3" Lift

I have to decide this week what lift to get. I have the wheels/tires on their way (35s). I know there is quite a bit of price difference, but what is the difference if I get the FT adj. track bars with the OME or the FT Ultimate. I don't plan on getting another lift down the road, so I want to do this right the first time. I have a Shrockworks stubby and tire/rear coming when they are out (if that makes a differnece with your answers). Thanks.

You will get more lift out of the FT springs and the FT ultimate also comes with adj control arms. The adj arms are a big reason for the price difference. A full set of adjustable arms usually run between $900-1200

I would go with the FT ult or Clayton's 3.5 kit. They are complete and allow you to completely dial in your jeep.

I think the OME for $1,000 from Northridge comes with adjustable track bars? How will I tell the difference if the lift has adj control arms once it is set up? Does the shop have to have experience with setting up adjustable arms? Thanks.

Not sure how concerned about total lift but I believe that the OME 2" lift may be bigger than the FT 3" lift.

I went with the OME with FT adjustable track bars from Northridge... as soon as my bumpers & rock sliders come in I'll be taking it down there for install.

Your're lucky to be that close to have someone that really knows what they are doing. I still can't decide if FT is worth the extra $1,000.

I would say that if you want to have a good trail rig with a nice street ride then the OME kit with the track bars will be a very nice setup for you. I would do things a little differently though and get Currie track bars instead of the FT ones, which is what I did with mine. I have not had any problems with loosening or weird noises or anything like that.

If you are looking for more of a hard core off road rig then I would say the FT kit would be a better choice. The fact that it comes with bump stops, brake line brackets to lengthen the lines, a stiffer spring, and more suspension travel would make for a better rock crawler where you would need more flex.

The Full Traction kit is more complete in the sense that you will be able to adjust each and every arm to give you exactly what you need to dial in the suspension more. For example with the OME kit you retain the stock control arms which will cause the caster to be less than optimum for a lifted Jeep, but with the FT kit you would be able to adjust the control arms and adjust your caster angle to the angle which works best for you and your Jeep.

Great response. I want to be sure that I have a great on road vehicle, that's where it will be spending most of its life. I don't know that I would ever need what the FT lifts offers?

Then yes, OME is definitely the one for you.

Doesn't the FTU have the potential for a better street ride with the adjustable arms to correct caster?
