Question Poison Spyder Brawler Bar

I recently purchased this bumper. The shackle mount holes state they are 3/4. However all 3/4 shackles come with a 7/8 pin. The pin doesn’t fit. I know this isn’t rocket science but if I have a Warn 10s winch, doesn’t a smaller shackle defeat the purpose of pulling capacity? Anything less than a 3/4 shackle seems not practical. Has anyone else ran into this and is there a solution? I think a Gator Jaw 7/16 soft shackle may solve the issue. I even considered drilling the hole slightly larger. Has anyone else ran into this? Thanks for your consideration.

No clue what you're talking about here. I have 3/4" shackles, the pins are 3/4", and they fit fine in my PSC BFH bumper. I've had 7/8" pins for a motorhome tow bar, and no 3/4" shackle I've ever had came close to being a 7/8" pin, hence it is a 3/4" shackle. Maybe I'm smoking crack. Do you have a link to the shackles you own?

Rhino 3/4 inch d shackle. What brand shackle do you have that has a 3/4 inch pin with a 3/4 inch shackle?

huh, that's kinda odd. I currently use smittybilt quick connect ones -

https://www.amazon.com/Smittybilt-13.../dp/B00AQFEBSG

But i've used other random 3/4" in the past and they always had 3/4" pins too. I did look yours up and see what you're talking about.

Default Shackle sizes

So I just spoke to two different shackle suppliers. They both say pin size is always one size larger than the shackle. So a 5/16 would have a 3/4 pin and a 3/4 would have a 7/8 pin, etc. The Brawler lite bumper comes with 3/4 diameter shackle holes. My fix was to get a 5/16 ALLOY SHACKLE which has a WLL of 10k. And bought two 7/16 gator jaw soft shackles with a break strength of 31k.

Thank you. I can’t believe no one else has come across this. I think I’m gonna get a couple of these. You rock!

I like the quick connect ones because my experience with the screw ones if they aren't so tight that I need a dang screwdriver to jam in the hole and help unscrew, then they are too loose that they unscrew themselves and fall off. That said, one issue I have with the quick connect ones is the pin will rub on the bumper. I guess the real solution is to not leave them installed all the time, but I do cuz never know when I need one and don't want to dig through my jeep if it's in a precarious situation/position.

Weird, I have the PS BFH front bumper and the PS shackles. They're 3/4 and have the 7/8 pins and they fit fine. I even use rubber grommets to keep them from clanging around too much. Maybe the bumper you ordered just had defective shackle mounts or something. Did you contact PS about it?
