Upgrading springs on 2-door?
I have a 2007 2-door sport with 2.5” budget boost (spacer lift) and 35” tires. I found shocks and springs off a 2014 unlimited rubicon. Do you think I will have any issues switching my stock shocks/springs with these and keeping my budget boost? Thanks!
So, I presume you're trying to eek out another 1" of lift the inexpensive way. There is nothing wrong with that, but hopefully you are well aware that extra inch is going to 1) decreased your caster further, and 2) increase your drive shaft angles even more. I also presume that since you have a BB, you likely don't have a form of caster correction, but maybe I'm wrong. If you haven't addressed your front DS yet, this could likely be the thing that puts it over the edge.
If you're not concerned about a little loss of ground clearance at the frame, a set of control arm brackets is only ~$100, and would improve the ride with your current set up even. The drive shaft is what it is. You could replace the TC side CV joint with the Teraflex high angle rzeppa, or just go with a, aftermarket shaft. I'm not sure how forgiving the rear DS is on yall's shorter wheelbase. Karl could probably advise that. On the 4dr the rear is not an issue at all. I personally think 2.5" lift or boost paired with 35s is a great look as-is.
I was pretty lucky with my rear ds for a long while on 2.5" but eventually I noticed the play and ended up replacing both sides with the Teraflex rzeppa. It's great and requires no extra parts like upper/ lower control arms that you'd be looking at with the aftermarket driveshaft.
In regards to the control arm brackets- also awesome and worthwhile. I have a set and the ride is a pleasure compared to what I had grown accustomed to before them.
But yes....35's and 2.5" is most practical for all scenarios. I have it with flat-ish flares and it checks the boxes for me.
