Question Creating a lowered Winch plate in an existing bumper

So I am dabbling into some fabricating. I have been playing with my welder on littler projects but I wanted to do something a little bit more challenging.

Right now I have a Barricade front bumper where the winch sits on top (in front of my radiator). What I would like to do is drop the winch inside of the bumper to have an end goal of getting the winch out from in front of the radiator. I am just looking for some advice on what to do, what not to do, if this is a plausible idea, any advice at all would be incredible!

Thank you!

As long as you can trust your welds to hold the vehicle in the scenario where you're winching then go for it. I have a recessed winch and it sits in an independent tray inside the frame rails then the bumper is simply a cover that goes over top. Maybe you could do something like that and just cut out the center of the bumper??
