Default Driving switch backs on a shelf road

I am making the trip to Colorado next month and I have a dumb question.... On extremely tight switch back, like black bear, Do I drive them in 2hi and then switch back to 4lo to continue my descent or do I leave it in 4lo and just make a several point turn?

Just make 2-3 point turns. With a 4 door I think I did a 3 pointer in the first and all others are easier after that. Make sure to spend time in and around Silverton also. My favorite town in Colorado.

I put mine in 4 low and leave it there. I let the engine do the work both up & down.

You are thinking of a couple of things. First, if your lockers are locked, the jeep will have a tendency to want to push through turns. You do not want to continually run with your lockers locked. You also might be thinking if transfer case bind. That happens when the front wheels turn at a different rate than the back wheels. Though this is definitely a thing, when you are on dirt roads, there is enough tire slippage That the transfer case will not bind.
so, if you are climbing Black bear pass, just leave it in the gear, and the transfer case in the range that you have been climbing the hill in.

Yep 4lo. Mosquito pass has some tight switchbacks, and I had no issues leaving it in 4lo. Only one spot on it I recall having to do a 2 point turn.
