Default When lifting a JK, when do you need extension's?

At what height of a lift should you extend brake line mounts, end links, bump stops when using spring spacers?

Thanks

Nice question,, no easy answer.. Some lift kits at 1.75 have extensions for some of your questions.. Others at 2" spacer lifts have extensions for shocks & extensions for brake lines and include bump stops.. IMO read the contents of the lift kit you are considering.

Spring spacers are not ideal for a lift. Moreover they're for cushioning the ride. However, lifting beyond 2.0 inches, one would need to add many of the items you're asking about.

It's a loaded question based on use. If jeep is 100% pavement then brake lines and bump stops are less important. Your sway bar should always be angled up a couple degrees. The risk with too short of lengths is you go over some major bump and flip the sway bar around with links that are too short. There is no simple answer for your question, every jeep is different depending on mods/weight.

Specifically if you have a budget boost/spacers, you should have at least drop brackets for the brake lines and new links in the rear, with the old rear links moving to the front.

I am about to do Teraflex 1" spacers on the front with Fox shocks on a 2012 MW#/Rubicon 2dr. The front sits low, so more of a level kit and I have larger tires. I assume I will get a 1" lift from the pucks, and the shocks are rated 0-2 in for lift, so I figure I should get 2"+ of further travel/articulation... My guess is I am fine, but I have read a few incidents of having to short of front end links. The factory break lines and bump stops I feel good with, but end links I am questioning, and curios about how there is no extended lines with many kits, but just a extension bracket.

Next shock changeout, 75K miles, I plan to do an AEV full lift with a few other things.

I am also planning to do more serious off roading and trails as my Jeep is now more a recreation vehicle and not a daily driver.

If you're going to be offroading at all, you're best to just buy a decent set of quick disconnecting links that will be adjustable and relieve all worries about those. I'd suggest JKS, but there are a ton out there. In a normal situation with links that are too small, you'd have to almost be full droop for your sway bar to invert, but it does happen. The reason all kits don't come with new brake lines is simply cost. Not cuz people wouldn't pay for it, but many kits rely on a low price point for a consumer, regardless if they have ALL the ideal parts or not.

For your immediate plans, the brake lines and shocks are fine. Brake line brackets are like $16 +/-.

Central Texas....are you in the hill country by Austin?

I plan to use a few JKS items with my future AEV plan.

I am near Fort Hood. Plan to do a few trips to Hidden Falls near Marble Falls, and few trails in that area, along with some camping.

They are for lifting, not cushioning the ride. They are just a cheap way to lift for those that are not looking to maximize their articulation and simply want to run a slighlty bigger tire or for leveling out the jeep.

OP I would do the front sway bar links, everything else you should be ok.

I guess I will see where the sway bar is once the install and suspension settling is done, then figure out what size/type to get.

Thanks to all for the help.

Some kits come with new rear links and then you reuse your old rear links on the front. Or, if you don't have a Rubi, you may want to install quick disconnect front sway bar links at this time. Many of them are adjustable: Problem solved.
