Default Lift/Wheel/Tire/Gear Set ups

Ok so my plan is to go with the FT 4" or 6" long arm with 37" tires. My X at the moment already has 5.13 gears, dana 44 rear, dana 30something front (i believe). Im checking right now.

Im fairly new and this is my first jeep. I plan to have this jeep for a long time and dont want to have to upgrade down the road. I love the rockcrawling stuff, and i want to get into even harder stuff but i need to get higher first.

Heres my questions:
How do all the different systems compare to each other. Short arm vs long arm, gears, axles, etc.
What are the pro/cons of each?
How do you all like your set ups?

I plan to upgrade this summer but i want to make sure im doing the right thing before i do it.

There are so many opinions on here and even more threads about this subject. Do what you can afford to do to suit your driving. Research everything, and for God's sake don't call your Jeep a car!

Thumbs up

I am going with the 4" Short arm Full Traction lift, still waiting to receive the lift. I am putting 37" BFG KM2s under the 4 door JK.

I don't offroad much do no need for the Long arm lift.

Installed the Superlift Steering Stabilizer bought from Northridge4x4, still waiting on the 4" Full Traction lift. Add that to the Banks Monster Exhaust and the True Flow XDI Intake completed in the last 24 hours.

The Superlift Steering Stabilizer is like 3Xs the size of the OEM shock. Superlift says use a 17/32" drill for the new hole, yeah good luck finding that size. The 1/2" works just fine.

My 3rd completed Mod of the total 50 of my “wanted” Mods, can’t wait for the 4” and 37” KM2s, then the 5.13s, then the front and rear bumpers, and then the ………………………………………………………………………………………..:cra zyeyes:

What kind of wheeling will you do, how frequently, how extreme?
I go out atleast once a month if not twice on moderate to difficult trails (including rocks). I have done some of the hardest stuff im willing to attempt with out more upgrades.

How much freeway/highway driving will you do and how frequently?
rarely on the freeway but i will be atleast 4 or 5 times a year doing about 800 miles each time.

Will your rig be a "trailer queen" or driven to offroad events/trails?
driven

What is your 6-12 month budget, 12-36 month budget?
at school i will only be making aobut 13k a year. growing every year.

How much of the install and future repairs will you do yourself vs. a shop?
willing and able to do install and repairs on my own.

How reliable do you need it to be? If you break axle shafts, u-joints, lockers, gear sets, etc., and your rig is waiting for you or a shop to repair breakage--will this be a problem?
yes, this is my main method of transport but i dont drive much and if broken i do have other methods of transport.

Do you care at all about retaining any sort of factory drivetrain warranty?
...yes

What is your experience wheeling with lockers, large tires, etc.?
ha none im new to this.
