Default Any clever ways to haul a mountain bike?

Upgrading to a carbon framed bike so I dont want to use the hitch mounted rack I have as it clamps to the frame in a way that could easily damage it. New racks are pretty pricey plus I have to worry about clearing the spare tire and storing it when its not in use (not much garage space). Any ideas that dont take up too much space? Currently I just throw it in the back with the seats down but thats not idea. I thought about mounting one of these to the hardtop just above the window. Any thoughts on that?

My other idea was fabbing a bolt on plate for my poison spyder bump's tire carrier and mounting a vertical rack off of it but I dont know how well that would fit.

I picked up this little guy that just straps over the spare. It was inexpensive, has room for 4? I think? bikes and keeps everything rock solid. I will say it's definitely at the edge of fitment with the 37, but it works fine.
