*PIC INSIDE* How did this guy relocate his fuel intake in this area?
I'm surprised to see that this JK has it's fuel filler nozzle in this area.
How did he do that?
I thought the fuel filler nozzle has to be above the tank so that the fuel doesn't flow back out?
What happens if he crosses a stream and the water line is above his fuel filler? Is the fuel cap an air tight seal?
Did the Jeep have a comp cut rear end? If so, maybe he thought it was cleaner to put the fill port there. And from that location, the cap is slightly higher than the gas tank. Not by much but it is higher.
It’s hard to tell in the pic but the fuel tube does run at a downward angle.
Personally, I wouldn’t put it there. If that cap ever leaks when he’s at an angle then there could be a dangerous spill on the trail.
I'm trying to wrap my head around it cause I do like the location because we overland & this just looks cleaner aesthetically.
but I can't make sense of it.

Interesting idea

Yes he is comp cut & has the rear axle stretched.
I'm trying to justify moving mine in a similar area (little higher than in the photo) but it seems like it may be hard to fill the tank up with it being that low. But we're comp cutting now so or decision has to happen soon

This solution requires some interior modification, but I think it's a better solution -
Yea we have seen this. We really don't want to come into the body. We have a 4-door that we're stretching. Already comp cut the fenders.
I sleep in the back of my JKU when temps are below 60 degrees at night, so we're trying to think of alternatives to routing through the body.
