JK Show & TellWhether they're just poser shots in your driveway or hardcore action shots on the trail, if you've got photos or videos of your Jeep JK Wrangler (or any JK for that matter that you think is worth showing off, inside or out), we want to see them so please post them here! Likewise, if you are wanting to see a photo of something specific like an aftermarket JK part or poser shot with a specific setup, this is the place to ask for it.
I’m new here, and this is my first Wrangler. I had a 2008 Cherokee V8 Limited about a decade ago, but mostly I’ve always had Toyotas. I was wanting a new project and thought a JK would be fun. So I bought this guy for pretty cheap knowing it needed work. It came with a hard top, but I scored a like-new soft top with all the framing and hardware for 75$, which I couldn’t pass up. I’ve got a garage with a 2-post lift, a decent collection of tools, and just enough knowledge to make me dangerous.
I got the jeep home and up on the lift to assess the extent of repairs needed and made some orders. The passenger side brake line fell apart in my hand, and I wanted all new brakes, so RC braided soft lines, and the PowerStop Z36 kit will be installed.
I found an axle seal leak on the rear passenger side so I’ve ordered bearings, seals, seal retainers, backing plates and all new parking brake hardware to remedy the leaks and corroded parts.
Hopefully, that gets the jeep stopping the way it should. I’ve got front and rear bumpers, rubi rails, some LED lighting/bracketry, Rancho 2.5” kit, and lots of other odds and ends already on hand to add.
The entire jeep exterior is getting raptor lined in OD green once I’ve got these brakes and axles squared away.
I’ll keep this thread updated with progress as I go. Lots of pics.
I was able to spend some quality time with the JK today. Moving to the rear brakes, it appears there’s been a slow axle seal leak so the axles came out for new bearings and seals and new backing plate assemblies went on.
The seals and bearings won’t be here until tomorrow so I went to work on the new catback kit I got from Northridge.
New backing plate assemblies from Summit Racing.
I didn’t take a pic of these cables prior to removal and something doesn’t seem right. When I install them the way I think they go, with the spring between those two brackets on the axle housing, there’s excessive tension on the P-brake actuator. Something doesn’t seem right. If anyone has a pic of theirs in working order, I’d love to see it. Can’t find a reference pic or video anywhere on the web.
I’ve removed the stickers and will de-badge when I get back to it. Hood bumpers, footman loop, and hood latches are all removed. Once I know these brakes are sorted, I’ll be prepping for Raptor Liner. Stay tuned.
I’ve just about got this thing finished. Here’s a quick video of the raptor lining. I have an appointment for an alignment this week and will be putting up trail videos real soon so subscribe if you like the videos so far! Thanks!
