Default New Owner, Help Identifying Suspension

Hello, New owner here. Actually this is my second Wrangler but the first one, a 2007, was a mess and the dealer bought it back.

Anyway, I purchased a 2013 that had very low miles on it (9250) and it appears lived in the previous owners garage. I got the Jeep for a good price, and I put, very low miles. Anyway, there were some upgrades done to the Jeep when I bought it. Magnaflow car back, and it looks like upgraded coils. From look at it compared to pictures of another stock JK it looks like it sits slightly lower. Below are the pictures of the front and rear coils. I have never seen, or been able to find any, that came yellow. They also appear to be dual-rate as well. The Jeep drives and hands great compared to the 2007 I had. No wallowing around, etc. very tight. Anyway I am curious if anyone might know what suspension this is. One person told me it was OME but when I called them they said they never had yellow coils and that they all are lifts. At the very least this one is not lifted. Lastly, I half wonder if the previous owner was trying to make a Jeep G-wagon or something. It also has the painted spare tire cover with Jeep embossed into it, the bumpers and footman hoop from the hood removed and covered with plugs, and no rear tow hook.

Attached are the pictures. I have searched this forum, other ones, and sellers online and so far no luck. I would like to do a very mild lift to just put 275/70/18 ties under it with just a little clearance. Based on what I have right now maybe 1.5 to 2" of real lift. This jeep is an extra vehicle to have fun with and tow behind my motorhome on trips. I do go on dirt trails in the woods as well as out west, besides an occasional trip to the beach. Nothing difficult so not looking for a full blown out rig. Thanks.

Never seen those coils on a jeep. Looks like everything else is factory. It actually looks like the jeep was lowered about 2" with those coils.

good golly....lowering a jeep is NOT something we see much of. The only manufacturer I can think of that sold various colored springs is Steinjager, but they are lifts only. It's sure not easy searching around for lowering springs for a JK. I'm not much help there. In general, it seems like you might have found a great specimen though. 9200 miles....

Welcome to JKF!

I agree I think it may be lowered a little myself. I am not sure if it's 2" though. It does look a little lower than other stock JK's but it doesn't look that much lower. It is weird. I added a side pic below as it may help to see if it was lowered a lot or not. The measurement to the bottom of the fender on the front is 35" and the rear is just under 34".

In the end i I know I will change the suspension out some just not sure what yet. Wouldn't mind the Mopar 2" kit with a few upgrades but not sure I want it to sit that high. Are the stock Rubicon coils longer than the rest of the JK ones? I know it is not much but the stuff I drive on off-road is not heavily technical. Might be some tree limbs, rocks, washouts, here and there but nothing extreme in the least.

Definitely been lowered. Your bumpstops are touching the axle!

since you have a 2dr, getting some 4dr rubi springs might be just the tiny bit you're looking for (that is more 4dr spring under a 2dr than it is the rubi spring is taller). Back in the day things like that were easily sourced for dirt cheap. As our JKs get older, finding those take-offs are a little harder. This will give you a couple places to measure from -

Looks like Skyjacker makes 'Lowjacker' 2-2.5" lowering coils. Maybe they got powerdercoated?

If you search around a bit, there is a long thread here somewhere where folks posted stock coil numbers and some appx height gains they were seeing when swapping certain 4door coils to a 2door. But yeah, any take-off JK coils will give you a 2-2.5" lift, so don't stress too much over it. That'll get you up off the bumpstops and stop the shocks from running bottomed out and get the swaybars back to level and ...

Found it. Maybe you'll see something useful in there.

I went out and looked a little closer. They actually are not touching. I have just enough room to squeeze a magazine in there.

Definitely will be getting lifted.

I'll take a look and doo some measurements as suggested, Thanks. Also see what I can find for take-off's. I have seen some but wasn't sure about them. I'll take a closer look now.

If Skyjacker, awesome. Father dealt with them many years ago on his YJ when he bought it. Terrible product.

I'll go digging for that thread as well. Will be helpful when looking at what I can find. Worst case I end up with a lift. Thanks for the info.

I’m sure you can probably pick up a used set in your area if you just want to get stock height back, I have a full set of stock off my 08 that have been sitting in a cabinet in my garage that I’d give ya for free, just would need to pick up.
