Angry Engine starts then immediately dies

Help! I bought a 2012 Rubicon last month and have been loving it ever since until Sunday. I had been in the hills playing in the snow for a few hours and on the way down the hill I stooped for a while to walk around. When I tried to start the Jeep it would turn over normally and initially start but would immediately die, within a second. I tried this several times with the same result. I waited about 5 minutes and it started and ran normal. It has been running fine since. I took it to the local Jeep dealer and he checked for fault codes. The only one that showed up was for the ECS which seems to work normally.

Anyone have an idea what might have happened or what other trouble shooting I should do.

Thank you for your help.

There is an unlabeled red light next to the fuel gauge. That light tells you that the security system (it prevents a thief from hot wiring your Jeep) is oaky with your key when the light goes out. If it stays on, it is not happy with your key. When it is not happy, as soon as the engine starts, it shuts it down. Usual correction is to disconnect the battery for a minute, then reconnect. If that doesn't work, try a different key. Good luck!

I agree with Mark above....sounds a lot like a security issue.

I have two keys for my recently purchased JK-a gray one and a black fancy one. The gray one starts the engine and it dies right away. Runs fine on the other one. Sounds like the same thing going on with the OP. So can the key be synched so it works? It's annoying to have a dead key.
