Steering/front wheels Rubbing when turning right
My current headache/fault has been with me since May last year with my 08 JKU.
Last year I purchased a new Currie 9704 JK Tie Rod and Drag link was fitted and the problems I think starter here. Also a terrible hum as though the bearings had gone front right. So had new ones fitted but still the hum when not turning and the problem described below still persists.
It’s right turns and especially on roundabouts. It’s a rubbing feel and sound, the anti skid light comes on and the brake pedal also moves up and down. I have to slow down to get rid of it and then by then I’m coming out of the right turn. So if I was to travel at 5 mph around the roundabout, it would do it and would appear normal. I recently added a new Currie 9704 JK Tie Rod and Drag link and it started after this. To me, the tie rod/drag link looks very close to the rear brake shield and I think it pushes against this when turning but only right, never when turning left. There are no visible marks to be 100% sure though.
My mechanics have checked and can’t find the issue. They thought it might me one wheel turning faster/slower than the other was but reported back today that this isn’t the issue. Now they’re thinking it could be the ABS cashing the problem. Does this additional information help with a diagnosis?

It does sound like your ABS is kicking in based on the traction like and the pulsating brake peddle. Since it is kicking in during turns my first thought would be a bad unit bearing which is what contains the tone ring the ABS sensor is reading. If the bearings go bad that would allow a little play in the tone ring which would be picked up by the sensor. Unit bearings (hubs) are not expensive. It sounds like you replaced that unit bearing but those should not hum at all. Any hum to whirling would be very suspect. I do not believe it's the TR or anything contacting the brake dust shield. I can tell you I've had a TR contact the back of a brake rotor (I ditched dust shields) and you'd never notice it outside of a big gouge it will put in your nice BBK brake rotors! I think the key here is to focus in on why the ABS is getting activated. Typically I would say those sensors can go bad, but the fact that it's happening during a turn vs going straight would point more to the bearing in my mind.
Humming/whirring is the unit bearing from my experience. Thats what mine did and activated the ABS and ESC lights. Sounds like you got a faulty unit bearing or did they just change one side? Look at the steering angle sensor as well as that tells the ECU that in a turn, which it identifies, that the wheels can spin at different speeds without indicating a fault.

Okay, so I’ve had the front wheel bearings replaced and the rubbing continues along with the turning of the ABS and Traction control coming on, on the dash.
I’ve have just had the all sensors fitted with harnesses but that didn’t make any difference either!!
Something that I have noticed and that’s, when the above dash warning lights so come on, they sometimes stay on and then the rubbing stops happen but when when the lights go back off, the rubbing returns.
No shiny part’s unfortunately. If I remove the fuse for the ABS / traction control, the problem goes but then so does my Speedo and other dash dials. I thought it was the sway bar but there were signs underneath, I even fitted a camera to find the issue and was 2 years ago now.
