Default 3.5” lift with new 4” shocks? The dos and donts…

I originally installed a 3.5” aev dual sport lift on my jku back in 2012. Since then a lot has changed. The Jeep is now trailered and no longer daily driven. Since then I have added jks adjustable track bar, syngery draglink and tie rod and I swapped out the control arm brackets for synergy adjustable control arms all around

now... One of my shocks is bent in the rear and has been for some time and I’m thinking of replacing all 4 now. I’ll be getting rid of the billsteins for the fox 2.0 shocks. They come in 1.5-3.5 or 4.0-6

now I am thinking well why get 3.5 if I can get the 4? But what does that risk? Would measuring and accounting for my bump stops be enough or at this point should I be looking at upgrading my coils as well.

or should I STFU and get the 1.5-3.5” shocks lol…

Look at the measurements of the Bilsteins from AEV compared to the foxes. Bilsteins tend to have a little more down travel for a given lift height than the other brands do. "Lift height" for shocks is just a proxy for extended and compressed lengths. I think shock surplus has good numbers on their site.

the one thing about those longer Fox shocks is the bodies are pretty long. If you happen to have Evo Rockstars in the rear then it's kinda an issue. If you happen to disconnect in the rear then you'd better make sure brake lines and ABS lines are long enough....otherwise no real issue. Up front, you'd better outboard your shock mounts if not done already, AND you'd better use limiting straps cuz the shocks will have bit much downtravels and you can easily bend those factory shock mounts.
