Default First Dana 44 Diff Swap Question

I've got a 25k mile '14 JKU (Sahara) with an open rear diff. I want to swap in a trac-loc and reuse my stock 3.73 gears. The only change is going to be the differential. Can anyone tell me if Dana P/N 2008571 is directly dimensionally compatible to my factory Axle. The factory tag on the top of the axle says 2011958-2. I hope to simply drop out the diff, swap the ring gear to the TracLoc diff, press on the bearings and reset the backlash and tooth pattern without ever touching the pinion.

I want to get the correct TracLoc diff in hand before I tear it apart. Would like to do the job in a weekend. Thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome to JKF. Good group, knowledgeable. I did not go that direction; went Yukon DuraGrip.

I’m also looking at the Eaton TrueTrac too. More than double the price but lots of good things floating around about it.

You cannot simply change the carrier the way you suggest and expect to get the correct alignment. You may luck out but worst case will be a whining diff noise and perhaps excessive wear or play on the gears. Setting it up and using tooth marker paste will tell you if it is ok. Make sure you mark the bearing caps prior to removal so that they go back in the same position.
