Hey all, not sure if I'm posting this in the right place and if not I apologize!!
Ive been hearing a lot of "clanking" noises coming from the rear of the jeep ( I think it's coming from the tailgate) primarily when I hit potholes or bumps in the road. I currently have the EVO hinged mfg tire carrier installed holding 35in nitro trail grapplers and just noticed the other day that the spare tire carrier is not straight on the tire carrier mount. The EVO tire carrier itself does pop out a bit as it's installed to the hinges of the tailgate so maybe that's why? Also thought id mention that the spare is flush to the hinged carrier as well as to the back of the jeep.
It's about an inch crooked on the mount and am wondering if anyone out there thinks that could be negatively effecting my tailgate and also maybe making the strange noises?? I know jeeps are known for making all sorts of noises after installing a larger spare but would love if someone could give me their input / any advice.
I attached some pics that hopefully can show the offset and how the tire is slightly slanted.
Again not even sure if that makes a difference but any words of wisdom are much appreciated!
I'm not sure if that would be the root cause of the noises you're hearing, but it ain't right to me......seems wonky. Wondering if that specific carrier has a manufacturing defect. I'm re-posting your pictures here so people don't have to download those PDFs. I think I'd reach out to Evo and send them several pictures and ask them if that looks right to them.
