Cut soft top to make hardtop Sunrider
I have a 2 door '13 JK with factory hard top and freedom panels. I bought a used soft top several years back and switched out and enjoyed, but then I got into kayaking about 4 years ago and carry the kayak on top of the hard top, so have not switched to soft top since. I've been drooling over the Bestop Sunrider for hard top but it is so danged expensive.. I'm thinking about cutting the front section of my soft top and window surrounds and trying to get a good seal. Has anybody tried this? I couldn't find anything in a search.
I'm also thinking about removing the rear window from my hard top, and cutting out a few inches surrounding the zip out rear window from my soft top and epoxying that inside the rear window opening, so I will have a zip-out window for airflow when I open the front. For winter, I can just zip out the window, leaving the portion epoxied inside with half the zipper, and put the glass rear window back in with wiper and defroster. I haven't seen this done, but any thoughts or ideas?
