JK Show & TellWhether they're just poser shots in your driveway or hardcore action shots on the trail, if you've got photos or videos of your Jeep JK Wrangler (or any JK for that matter that you think is worth showing off, inside or out), we want to see them so please post them here! Likewise, if you are wanting to see a photo of something specific like an aftermarket JK part or poser shot with a specific setup, this is the place to ask for it.
First post here , In the process of mounting my spare. Do all tailgates have the rubber bumpers for the tire to hit. if this is the wrong area for this post just let me know.
Yes the rubber bumpers are standard on all; now with what appears to be an extension bracket for larger tires the bumpers wont press the tire and stop vibrations. There are aftermarket bumpers that can be cut to fit and press against the tire. Also I have heard of using golf balls (plastic practice ones) glued to the OEM bumpers to extend out and press against the tire. I am not seeing a spare mounted; are you running without the spare; extending is not needed.
Only owned it for a week the spare came with it matching tire/wheel .. I thought with a 35inch tire the bracket would let me raise and lower to a desired height for bumper to clear, Im just surprised no factory holes for the bumper insulators .
You have aftermarket things going on. Looks like a tailgate reinforcement kit was installed. The green circle is where the bumper usually is, but there's a bolt there so presumably, there is something inside the tailgate that it's attached to. Also, the plastic tire carrier part normally mounts directly to the tailgate. The red arrow shows a reinforcement plate attached - and the "door slam" vent louvers have been replaced with the new plate.
I did identify that adjustable tire adapter - it's a HOOKUN B-009, found on Amazon. Given it doesn't come with other parts (like the reinforcement under the tire carrier itself), there are still other aftermarket pieces/parts. Can't tell if they are legit reinforcement or just cosmetic without looking at the inside of the tailgate. Got a picture of that?
