Default Which security TRUNK can I use for a 08 4dr w/ sub woofer?

Hey All....

Okay - this will be the FIRST time I will admit that I am a 'chick' and all this tech talk is way over my head. LOL Darling hubby will install anything I need but I have to lcoate it.... grrrrrrrrrrr

I have been trying to read most of the threads and posts as to which security trunk would work for my 2008 Sahara WITH the SubWoofer. Of course I am looking to get one as cheap as I can (aren't we all?) and the one I liked alot was the one posted at https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/show...ght=instatrunk but I see it won't work with the Sub.

Are there any out there EXACTLY like that one - but that can work for my ride? THANKS!

I had to go with the flex-a-trunk. It's the only thing I could find that would work with the subwoofer. And the cheapest price I found was on Ebay and it still wasn't really cheap.

I got the tuffy security drawer, its no way near cheap, but Northridge has 5% off, so its only 561 but I gotta say its definately worth it, thing is built like a armored car and it works with the sub. I have install pics if you want to see.

There is a "with subwoofer" instatrunk...but if I had a sub, I would get the "without subwoofer" model and move the sub forward. I'm not sure what it would sound like inside the trunk...plus it would take up space that is already very limited.

Of course, I have no idea how much work it would be to move the sub... I think some guys on here have done it.

EDIT - I just noticed the link above shows the "add-a-trunk" (not InstaTrunk). Here's the instatrunk: http://www.quadratec.com/products/14147_10X_PG.htm

The InstaTrunk only comes in one size. It's made to fill the entire cargo area of the 2-door, so on the 4-door you have room in front of it. I can snap some pics of mine when I get home.

The box I just installed in mine would have worked with the sub if I had chosen to move it further left. As it sits right now, it is just to the left of the mounting stud of the sub. You can see the stud in the pic of the left mounting bracket.

I was trying to keep the box as centered as possible and keep some use of the cubby. You could probably work it in with a little thought. My whole deal with box, mounting, and paint was like $260 or so.

Tractor supply had different size boxes. I could have gone with a 24" box instead of the 32". Just break out a tape measure and makesome measurements and head to your local store with truck boxes (tractor supply, pep boys, ettc.)

I went with the Bestop Instatrunk as well. I had checked out the Mopar Add a Trunk, but my sole motivation was to have a secure space in the Jeep. It is available for the 07 & 08 with the sub. It installed in about 15 minutes with a hex wrench, a 15mm socket and a razor blade (you have to cut a small hole in the carpet liner to get to a hole in the tub. I'm very satisfied with it. It doesn't afford too much space, but it serves my needs and the price was right.

maybe he's willing to relocate the subwoofer just so you can get the trunk that you really like. I'm sure someone here has either removed or relocated their subwoofer.
why settle for something else if your hubby is willing to do the job?
