hub centric rings for pro comp rims?
I've asked this before, but I know a lot of people are running pro comp rims. Is anyone running hub centric rings, and if so what size are they?
Time to revive this issue since I haven't seen a definitive answer. If you know of a thread that drives this issue to ground, please post a link. The closest I can find is:
I tow with the JK, and I beat it on the rocks (the JK that is) whenever I get a chance. I'd love to upgrade the stock Rubi wheels and tires, but most aftermarket wheels (Pro Comps, Mickey Thompson, others) only make lug centric wheels and I don't want to put the stress on the lugs. For one I don't want a warranty issue if a lug breaks. For that matter, I don't want a lug to break because all of the weight is on the hub, warranty or not. Bad news when you are far from help.
Mopar jeep accessory sites show wheels that "are machined to match your vehicle's hubs exactly for a smooth and balanced ride". This is the closest I can find to an official Jeep stand on "hub centric". Does anyone have any documented evidence that the JK is designed as a hub centric application? Is it in the service manual?
Has anyone tried aftermarket wheels with the hub ring? Is the one referenced above the right size for Pro Comp wheels? How about the hub bore size? If that part's right I guess I can order wheels, measure them when they get in, THEN order hub rings.
OK, oh wise surfers of the JK-Forum, what sage advice can you offer?
Well if you want to take a chance and get the same ones I did, I ordered some from 1010tires.com
Look under accessories I believe. I got the ones that have these specs...they were about $70 including shipping.
O.D. 82 - I.D. 71.5
Those will fit a wheel with a 3.3" hub bore which most of the aftermarket five lug 4x4 type wheels have, and fits snugly on the hub of the Jeep. Hope that helps!

Yup - AEV are the only off-road wheels I found that specifically state as much. However, I noticed the Hutchinson Rock Monster wheels for the JK have a 71.5 mm bore - the exact size of the stock wheels. Don't know if that makes them "hub centric" or just a snug fit.

Anyone try hub centric rings with Pro Comp wheels yet? I know the centerbore is 3.27", or about 82mm. The Dana 44s are definetely 71.5 mm. The Jeep wheels center cap is set away from the main part of the centerbore. I noticed the center cap on most (if not all) Pro Comps extends all the way through the centerbore. Not sure rings are even an option with the center cap in place.
