Trying to decide on two runner up kits:
M.O.R.E 1" body lift:I can't decide on the 1" MORE which is really simple and sits on top of the OEM mounts between the body, no removing the OEM mounts and pressing out the side bolts and pressing in the new ones like the Daystar kit. So that's a plus and I hear mixed stories on whether or not us manual tranny guys have to trip the inner shift boot, or the sheetmetal or heat/bend the shifter itself to retain stock(ish) shifting geometry for 2nd, 4th & reverse (hitting).
BDS 2" body lift:
Well put together kit with bumper raising brackets, steering column extension, hoses, etc, etc. Puck design by looking at the pictures but OEM style 3 bolt design by reading their downloadable pdf instructions (still researching which it is). This kit would be nice in the sense it's 2" but I could guarantee it'll require some modifications for the manual shifter which sucks. Especially since I can't find anyone else who has done this kit for a manual. Several have done the 1".

I did the 1" daystar to supplement my 2" BB. I had tons of rubbing and the 1"BL was the perfect fix
....HOWEVER... the Jeep looks like cr@p from behind. The bumper and wich hide the front well. Lots of trucks and the TJ/YJ's wear body lifts OK, the JK does not. There are lots of spot welds and ugly seams that are exposed once its lifted above the bumper. Sure its an inch higher that only cost me $100 and 2 hours of my time, but if I did it again, I'd put the $100 towards a taller coil kit. Somebody needs to come up with something to cover the sheet metal below the gate and the above the bumper.
I hate the way it looks with the 1" BL - I couldn't imagine 2".

Thanks for posting your results on the 1" too, think if I do it at all the 2" might be ideal since it lifts the bumper too, but I'm just dreading the manual modifications. I called BDS and they were really helpful and explained they were provided an auto JK to build a kit and he felt it would be necessary to either cut the inner boot and possibly sheetmetal "or" do like we used to do on the TJ's and cut the shifter and weld in a 2" 1/2" rod and then possibly head/bend as needed to afix the shifter from hitting the dash or jamming up on the shifter boots. I am NOT cutting the boot or sheetmetal and have access to all the welding/torch equipment. Still researching though.

I am a fan of the functionality of BL's as far as tire clearance/preserving wheel travel/articulation....avoiding evil bumpstop extensions, etc.
The nice thing about a 2" BL is that is gives clearance for a 4" larger diameter tire than stock...so a stock JK can fit 33's...plus 4" = 37's.

Using ALL suspension to clear a tire never REALLY works, as the tire will still stuff up to the same spot on full uptravel, and if it was going to hit on full uptravel before the suspension lift, it will hit on full uptravel after the SL too...hence the evil bumpstop extensions on almost all the SL's.
Now that a 2" BL is available, it really opens up some tire room.
