Question on lifts for the unlimited rubicon owners
Just picked up an 07 Rubi in Rescue Green and I am pretty sure I want 35s on it.
I am new to the JK but have had 5 CJ8s with 35s on them over the past 20 years. I have scoured the forums, searching answers to these questions but get conflicting info.
I have thought about 34s but the choice of tires seem slim. so here are the questions if you guys can help me with any of them, I would greatly appreciate it.
1. Will 34x11.5x17s fit a stock rubi with spacers?
2. Do I need a full four inch lift for 35x12.5s to clear well? If not, what size?
3.I want to keep as close to stock feel as possible, what do you think about the Rough Country 4" kit with the new 2.2 shocks.
I think that is all, at least for now. i continue to read, read, read, and learn. I want to thank you guys for the time you have taken to make this forum, something we cam learn from.

well im new too but ill share with u what i have learned from this forum, to clear 35s u dont need a lift but alot of rubbing will occur especially offroad. to clear them comfortably u will need at least a 2.5" suspension lift will wheel spacers i think ull wanna go with 1.5" spacing. I'd recomend the teraflex kit i hear alot of good things about the lift its very complete, and there are many diferent options for the lift. the rough country 4" lift is good too but i'd recommend a rear track bar to avoid stress on the axel weld. u probably already know this but u'll need to regear if u get 35s, ive hear ppl with stick using the 4.10 ratio but i'd recommend the 4.88 or the 5.13 gears especially if u have a automatic.
how did i do guys lol (i learned all this from you all)(i love this forum)

I have a hybrid lift and no 35's yet... but 3" of lift will clear 35's on a jk and you can put a 12.5 wide tire on the stock wheels with spacers. Check out the FAQ It might help out with some of your questions.
I've got 35's with a 3" lift. It rubbed on the driver side front air dam (the plastic one from the factory) when I turned sharply to the left. Once I put a new bumper on, with a skid for the sway bar disco instead of the air dam, no more rubbing.
First off I have a 4dr Rubi JK, but I do not have a lift or 35s. According to my measurements and what I have seen and read ...
1. Will 34x11.5x17s fit a stock rubi with spacers?
Evidence suggests that they will rub. How bad is up for debate.
2. Do I need a full four inch lift for 35x12.5s to clear well? If not, what size.
NO, a 4 inch lift is not needed.
You need a lift of about 2 or 2.5 inches. You really only need the lift because you want to add longer bump stops to limit compression some. You want some suspension travel left after you add the needed bump stops. From pictures I have seen here and some JK action in real life, the tire will hit the fender when turned and stuffed if you do not limit up travel some. The popular OME kit does not currently include new bump stops. Some have speculated that the coils bind limiting upward travel, which explains the success many have with 35s. I am skeptical and have seen no real evidence of the coil binding that prevents rubbing. I think that 35s may rub depending on your setup and how you use it without bump stops. An email from OME posted here suggests that rubbing is possible on 35s and an optional bump stop would solve it (minor fix). This makes a 2.5 inch lift a great choice for 35s, but it may need a minor tweak or two to work perfectly.
3.I want to keep as close to stock feel as possible, what do you think about the Rough Country 4" kit with the new 2.2 shocks.
If you want to stay as close as possible to stock then do the work to make a 2.5 inch lift work with the tires you want. You can get the same performance as the guys with the 4 inch or greater lifts (for your tire size), with a lower COG.
Someone will be along shortly to explain that I am unqualified to post a response to your question because I don't have the money to run 35s. Please take my advice with a grain of salt.

To be honest, I can not recommend the Teraflex 3" lift enough. I have installed this on my Unlimited JK and I love it. The feel is better than stock in my honest opinion and I put 50-74 miles a day on my Jeep. As for offroad....you can not go wrong with Terflex.

If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
