Default Center console lock... anyone?

Does anyone have a modded center console lock upgrade? (not the Tuffy one) but just improving the lock on the stock one? Thanks!

I too would like to know...would a stronger lock with some reinforcement work? That would save about $100. I'm going to try it.

It doesnt really do any good to improve the lock if all your locking is a crappy plastic box. You would need the metal sides, hinges, lid, and lock to even make it hard to get into. Just my thought. Good luck!

Yeah, I was thinking of reinforcing the outer edges of the inner console around the lid with steel and making the lock interact with that.

I still think that with a heavy duty lock that someone with a screw driver or prybar could pop that thin plastic top off reinforced or not.

If they are that determined they will pull the whole console!

Am I the only one that doesn't have a center console; I just have a center piece with two cup holders and some form of concave sunglasses size area. I really want something to rest my arm on

Tuffy makes a full-length console replacement for the JK that has a locking storage compartment, cupholders, and a padded armrest.

I think I'm allowed to post a link because Tuffy is a sponsor.

I think the base model X 2dr does not have the center console. The base model 4dr X does have the console.

I too would like a more secure locable solution. That kinda stuff has not been high on my priority list until recently. Seems Tuffy is the only current aftermarket solution. Not sure if anything else is on the drawing board.

That Tuffy console is sweet. I had a similar one in my Land Rover. . .

But at $439, people might break into your Jeep just to steal the Tuffy Console, LOL!
