Default Another Wheel & Tire Question

Hey everybody, so I'm a Newbie...been on JeepForum for a while. Now I know alot about my JK, I do everything myself, but I am terrible when it comes to wheels and tires; so this is the dealeo....

I'm putting on the 2.5" Teraflex HD Boost with shocks and I will be putting BFG 33 AT's on with the lift. Now I know stock backspacing is 6.25" and my stock tires are 32x10.2 inches, and I still want my new tires in my fender (just my look), but if they stick out about 1/2 an inch, it's no big deal.

Question:

With 5" of backspacing for my new 16x8 cragar wheels, will that be enough backspacing for a 33x11.5 BFG tire with NO rubbing against my control arms or coils when doing a full turn?

Or am I better off doing a 33x10.5 BFG tire if doing 5" of backspacing?

I would think I'd be fine with 5" of backspacing and no rubbing when riding on 33x11.5 because the Goodyear tires on my stock wheels now are 32x10.2, so I'm only going up an inch or so in height and width....

Anyway, I want to hear your answers before I make any purchases.

Thanks!

Default Im no expert but...

I know the more the backspacing the further the rim sticks out. W/ 6.25" stock and 5.00" on the new rims they will stick out another 1.25". since the tires are centered you should divide the difference in width by 2 to figure how much further the tires would stick out compared to the stockers. This all assumes that offset is equal.
As far as rubbing w/ the setup try a search im sure its been asked before.

Not sure if this will help or not but here's a 285/75 on a rim with 4.7" backspacing (before lift):

Here's what they look like with the TF 2.5BB:

UrSandal - very nice, I think I'll be alright with 5" of backspacing...I'm actually doing the same tires as you. Thanks for the pic.

P.S. your wife has a nice JK, good job on the lift! (JeepForum) - it's a small world after all.
