Brake Ugrades???
Ok this is for those of you who already lifted their Jeeps and added bigger wheel and tires.....did you upgrade your brakes? Since a bigger wheel and tire combo has been added did feel anything that made you think of changing out your rotor/brake pads? Just wondering since I know that I had to change out my rotors and pads when I put on 35's on my Expy....feedback is greatly appreciated in advance.
I've been riding on 35" tires for over a year and have put about 25,000 miles on them with stock brakes. I am now on 37's and have put on about 6,000 miles on them still with stock brakes. While you will feel some braking power loss. It hasn't been enough to make me want to run out and start upgrading things. However, when I upgraded to Performace Fricition pads on my TJ after going up to 35's, I did notice an improvment with them alone and so I will most likely try the same thing on my JK someday.
not needed, these are really nice brakes as they are even with bigger tires. At most way way down the road I plan on using dimpled (not drilled) and slotted rottors that are galvanized, found them online for my racecar and they are superb, way better than what Brembo sells and less expensive while offering the best stopping power I've yet to experience.
I am running 35's with no braking problem. I do have a problem with the ESP Braking activating on some turns and corners. I have been to the Jeep dealer twice. The first time about two weeks ago they tried to reprogram using TSB 05-001-08 and it did not work. This time they told me Jeep has taken that TSB off the internet because it was not working.
Anybody know how to disconnect or otherwise stop this braking in turns? It is eating my brakes because I live on a crooked backwoods road.
Thanks

In another thread I found a post that says you can cut the Pink Wire with the Lite Blue tracer on it and stop the automatic braking, ABS etc. If you put a switch where you cut the wire you can turn the brake mess on and off as needed.
Anyway, didn't mean to thread jack, so brakes, the stockers on my JK are doing well for the 35s and other than the occassional
OH SHIT! stops when something flies out in front of me etc etc, it does really well. even with the oh shit stops (knock on wood) i haven't hit anything yet. So my two cents is that they are decent but not ideal
I gained a lot of confidence in the brakes after installing my Crown brake lines from Northridge. I probably ran most of a 32oz can of brake fluid through them bleeding them, but the results are excellent.
The pedal is firmer and more predictable with the heavy 35" Toyo/Hutchinson combination.
I know the heavy wheels and tires hurt the brake performance but let me tell you, my 2 door Jeep stops right NOW when you nail the pedal.
The 35" tires give quite a bit of traction at 26 psi, and the brakes make good use of it. The ABS must work pretty good 'cause I haven't had any lockup even in the wet.
Now my other daily driver is a Lexus IS350 with 19"OZ Superleggera III rims (and you thought Hutchinson rims were expensive) and Michelin PS2 tires, it has incredible brakes, better than the Jeep, but the Jeep isn't bad at all.
