Default Dealer Suspension Lifts, etc.

I went to the local Jeep dealer today to pickup a part, and noticed they have started to do suspension lifts and big tyres...so far, all I see is Skyjacker stuff, but what caught my eye was that there were three JK's with 35x12.5x17 BFG KM tyres installed on the stock 17" MOAB wheel...from what I have gathered, this tyre size requires a minimum of 9" wheel width, and the MOAB is only 7.5"...am I assuming wrong that this is not safe...interesting note...the dealer addendum sticker states that the Chrysler warranty is void on dealer installed non-DC aftermarket parts, and the vehicles are sold "As Is"; the only warranty on these new JK's are from whatever Skyjacker gives you, and the tyres...seems like a gyp to me.

Which is wack....the warranty, or lack thereof, or the wheel tyre combo...or both?

I can see where the Skyjacker parts would not be covered under the factory warranty, but I would insist that the dealer who installed them would warrant the install and workmanship. I spoke with my local tire shop on Sunday concrening putting 35" KM2s on my MOAB wheels. They said no way

I know several people that run 12.50's on 7 " rims with no problems . Its a poor man's beadlock. Some tire shops wont do it because the mfg recommends against it. They dont want to be liable.

My dealer usually has a skyjacker lifted X on the lot. My saleman told me they warranty the work since they installed it and skyjacker warranties the parts. The rest of the warranty still applies to the stock components. I know if I bought one, Id want everything spelled out on paper... in blood...

the dealer meant factory warranty was void on the parts replaced... and if they used skyjacker I can def see why

but thats the way with anything you replace that isnt factory

Not necessarily. In CT, and a lot of other states as well, a vehicle that's sold "As Is" means NO warranty whatsoever. So, by selling the vehicle "as is," the dealership is not liable for any problems on the vehicle... buyer beware!

That's the catch phrase that all so far (except you) have missed: "AS IS"...I think it's a raw deal for anyone purchasing these JK's, and I hope they sit and rot in the lot...no warranty and Slimejackoff parts to boot...
