Default Mopar HoodLock Inst. Tip!

Got my Mopar HoodLock the other day, checked this forum for installation tips. Apparently easy EXCEPT the lock uses these big ass 1/4" rivets that don't fit most guys home pop gun (incl mine). A saw some guys went to the dealer and paid $25-$75 bucks. Anyway, Harbor Freight has a Large Capacity Hand Riveter (#41291) $13.99! Just received it, works great, install took 15mins and for $14 you keep the tool.

Works fine. Listen, if some pro wants your Jeep, he's getting it, but most pro's don't go around stealing batteries or CAI. This will definitely slow them down and keep the kids/wannabees away. Plus it looks pro and works off my regular Jeep key.

I just installed the MOPAR lock and it works fine. I used rivit nuts (also from Harbor Freight) instead of the 1/4" blind rivits included in the kit.

To make the latch more snug, I zip tied a 2" piece of rubber coolent hose onto the latch between the hood undersurface and the bend in the latch.

No fingers (except for maybe a very small child) can fit between the small gap created when the hood catches are removed but the lock is still locked.

I agree, a determined thief can use a wire hanger and some determination to get past the lock if they are so inclined to get your brand new fuel injector rail.

I tapped the hole and threaded a bolt in the bolt hit another bolt and destroyed the lock bolts i put in and bent the bolts so they are in and definitely not going to be easy to get out.
works for me

I got the mopar keyed alike to the ignition pricey but man does it work good
and service guys have no clue so always right instructions on the work order
