Default Rc 2.5 Bb Getting Installed Next Weekend!!

For anyone who has installed this kit or similar BB, have you had to recenter the steering wheel, and if so how much adjustment was needed. I'm not worried about the axle being slightly shifted due to the kit not having a trac bar bracket. I will eventually get an adjustable trac bar.I ordered a Rough Country 2.5 BB with the 2.2 shocks and replacement HD Steering stabilizer last week and it should be delivered Monday . Will be installing it in my garage next weekend. I am already running 33" tires and decided I need more clearance after hitting a dip in the road and rubbed the rear fender . For those of you who are curious I will post pics once it is done. Until then, here are pics of my JK the day after I got it, then 3 weeks later with the new tires and wheels.

Awesome. I'm fortunate enough to to have a garage with practically any tool that could be needed to do most anything I need. It also helps that I am fairly mechanically inclined & have a brother-in-law that loves to have an excuse to get his hands dirty, LOL! It will probably drive me nuts having the lift kit just sitting in the garage all week but I typically work too late to attempt to tackle it after work during the week. Definitely post pics when you get yours put on.

You like the kit. Judging by the wheels you have, you should have no contact once installed. It's a tough little kit for a great price.

When it comes to recentering the wheel, do it like this. Once installed take it for a drive, you might be fine since you have wide tires. When you drop the pressures (I'm running 26 all around for road (34's)) your contact patch will increase slightly and you might not have to change anything and if you do it will only be slight. We've installed 3 lifts successively, and intially only the Jeep with the bigger tires didn't need the steering recentred. Since, we have all gone to bigger tires there was no need to recentre.

If it's way off, recentre it as you might have problems with the ESP kicking in a little early.

Well, I see what you mean about the steering. My brother-in-law had some free time last night so we went ahead and installed the kit. Only took 2 hours and was fairly simple. I can hardly notice a difference in the steering wheel at all. If anything it may be shifted slightly counter-clockwise. I didn't have any issues with the ESP on the way to work this morning. I will probably still get an alignment soon just to be on the safe side though. Overall I am pleased so far. It is a tough kit as well. The spacers are nice powder-coated steel I think and the shocks look pretty beefy. Makes the stock shocks look like they should have been on a bicycle or something . I'll get some pics up as soon as I get a chance. Now I am just wondering what to buy next. There is a 4wheel Parts Truckfest show coming to Dallas in May so I may try to get a deal on a Hypertech MaxEnergy Programmer and an AEM CAI.

Okay. An-n-n-n-d?

BTW: I have the same kit/shocks and did have to recenter steering. Steering wheel was slightly off, and had minor ESP problem when exiting highway at high speed and with a sharp turn to the right.

There is no need for an alignment, you are just throwing money away. Just recenter the steering wheel, it takes five minutes at most.
