Default 4" Superlift

Thinkin about installing my lift on my own in the next few days. The local 4X4 shop wanted $600 bucks to do it. Not really sure I trust them though. A not so local REPUTIBLE (been in magazines) shop about 120 miles away wanted $475 and that was including alignment. Which doesnt sound to bad......but from most of the posts on here everyone seems to think "do it yourself". Not a mechanic by no means, but not mechanically challenged either. What do you guys think.....any pointers from guys thats already installed the 4" Superlift or any other lift would be appreciated. I think the only tools I dont have would be the floor jack, jack stands and spring compressor. Can you rent these items at your local Autozone? Didnt really want to buy this stuff for a one time use but in case I have to what tonnage rating for the jack and stands 2 tons, 3 tons or more?

Im in the same boat as you only I have a 2 inch lift. I've been quoted from $165-$350 for the install. I would like to do it myself but I have no tools and would rather have it done right knowing my luck with things. For a 4" lift I would expect it to be around $500.

Although this write-up isn't for a Superlift, a lot of it will be the same and should help you out:

3" Lift Installation Write-Up

As far as what you need, definitely a good floor jack that can be raised up to 20" or more and you should buy this as you will be using it all the time guaranteed. As far as jack stands go, I bought me a set of 6-ton stands from Harbor Freight for cheap because they can go really tall and are quite stable with their wide footprint. And, for spring compressors, you can borrow them for free at Autozone
