Evolution of a JK
Well its been since November since I had my awesome flaming red JK Rubicon 4 door Unlimited or in simplicity “JEEP”……
First Modification: Overhaul of the sound system. Gutted out the cheesy sounds system and installed a Kenwood double din stereo with blue tooth, Ipod connector, navigation, XM radio and 2 headrest monitors. When I upgraded the rear speakers I installed 3 additional amps.
Problems: At first had some technical issues such as rough starts and engine check light staying on….the kinks seem to have worked themselves out . New alarm system that lets me track the jeep via pc and cell phone as well as killing the start if needed.
Second Modification: Lift, tires and suspension- went with 37 inch tires and 17 inch Walker Evans beadlocks, Terra Flex 4 inch lift.
Problems: 37 inch tires were rubbing on the front bumper. Reduced tires to 35 inch and was felt the difference. Gas consumption increased!!! Or so it appears. On the freeways or cross winds I drift some but still it is controllable.
Third Modification: Grab handles and a “ Humvee “ with a line across it installed in rear window- and yes it does irk those h1, h2 and h3’s….
Fourth Modification: Warn front bumper with 12,000 lb winch and compressor.
Today I received the upper half of my rear bumper and was miffed that for the price of the Jeeperman product assembly was required. All nuts, bolts, latch, bearings, hinge etc were bagged and hope the instructions come when the bottom half gets here. :confused:
I am hoping many of you can help as I am looking for the rail doors, a full bikini top, and Bushwacker flares. The dealers I have checked say that all these products are backordered….
Finally in March I should have my Adventure Trailer finished and then find some trails to get lost on here in the southwest…….
I am still amused that my Jeep is called a Hummer, my Samurai is referred as a Jeep and my Pinzgaur is called a Unimog…….
