Default Opinions on BAJA MTZ tires?

Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ radial http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/t...aMTZRadialTrad

I know a few guys on here are running them, but cant remember which guys. Also for guys that have seen them, what do you think? I will be getting 315/75R16s. The only downside on these is they run a little small, 34.5 diameter and 11.9 sidewall width. A hair small, but I dont know if a person can tell or not. I just received my 16 x 8 eagle 187s tonite. And my Rustys 3.25 lift should be here by the end of the week. Any and all opinions appreciated.

thanks

TomZWheels on ebay had a set of 17 x 8 137s last week. I decided to go with eagle 187s instead, mine came from expressdistributing.com. www.4wd.com had some 1087s last week as well in procomps, identical to 187s. Bascially I called a dozen places to find what i wanted. If you find what you want, do not hesitate either, they will be gone quick, and it may be a very long time until you find them again, as eagle is not actively making 5 x 5s. We are eating up all the old inventory right now for these new jeeps.

I've got MTZs on my XJ (31s). They ride great on street and air down nicely for the sand but I haven't taken them on anything else. They are a bit loud compared to how they look (louder than most other streetable MT radials except swampers) but that doesn't bother me. I got em cause the price was right and they looked agressive enough. I've heard a few other people who have them say they get out of round easy but I haven't had that problem and have been on them for almost a year.

Those sure look alot bigger than 31 inch tires. MT claims these are quiet tires, but like yourself I have seen others say they get a bit loud also, especially after some wear around 10k miles. Found that info on some google searches. Thanks for the feedback.

Now that I think about it, they were quiet when I got em. They got loud over the winter. Especially after last rotation in Dec. Not too obnoxious... but you definately know you are on MTs .

Just an update>> I rotated today and did some examination. I musta knocked my alignment out recently as the front have a good 1/4" less tread than the rears (and I rotate regularly). I was worried about the excessive noise and ride because the fronts (now rears) are cupped a bit but it was the opposite. Smooth as silk and quiet as heck. I'm gonna go get the front realigned tomorrow but by the looks of the tires and how quick that lost tread.... I'd have to say I'll be in the market for new tires at the 1.5-2year mark. They seem to be really soft and wear quickly. I've had them for about 9 months now and was quite surprised at the tread wear (although I'm going to lay partial blame on the front end).

Default 37x13.50-18's

Im running Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ's. They have been great in all weather situations including snow. They hum quite abit with the doors off though. Side nobs are a bit hard to keep clean...but its a jeep so who cares right!
