Default How do I attach a tow hitch to the front bumper?

I want to tow my JK behind my RV, but don't know how I'm going to attach the tow hitch brackets to, through or around my front bumper. I've got the Shrockworks mid width on there, and was told by the RV dealer that they couldn't attach the hitch without taking the bumper off. I don't want to do that. Has anyone else dealt with this problem? If so, how? Thanks.

By the way, when I said the dealer told me I had to remove the front bumper, I meant they told me I would have to remove it permanently, not just to complete the install of the hitch brackets.

I would suggest taking it a local fab shop (or someone you know that can weld) and have them build a custom towbar. The Shrockworks recovery points should make a good attachment point to pin the tow bar to. My guess this could be built for a few hundred bucks or less.

I am just about to buy the Shrockworks stubby and already have the Mopar towbar. I probably will mod either the lower skid plate so my stock brackets will fit it or mod the bar to work with the recovery points on the bumper. I would prefer to use the lower mounts so my bar will stay level. Otherwise I will have to use an elevated ball on the back of the RV to raise up the hitch to keep it level.

I would say I would show pics but it will probably be weeks before I get my bumper.

Here is RubyDoo's configuration when we flat tow her.
The tow bar is from U-Haul and i had it modified to fit over the tow points on her Warn bumper.

attach it with brute force and ignorance,,

No,, really you should not be having this issue,, I've seen JK's being towed behind big motor homes with the bars like you pictured AND the factory bumper still on..

Good luck!

Clackey mounted one to his front bumper, maybe he can help. Hopefully he sees this thread.

That seems like a good option - modifying the bracket on the hitch so it will attach to the recovery points on my bumper. Thinking about what Gasser said above, do you have any issues with the hitch being level? Do you use an elevated ball on the RV?
