Gibson Exhaust part 17301
Hello, I recently installed the Gibson Exhaust part 17301 on my JK and thought I would share a sound clip. I noticed when I was looking at exhausts that there weren't much available.
if you go to www.vimeo.com and search "wrangler gibson"
I went with the single exit exhaust based on comments on this forum about how people weren't happy with the dual exit part.
after driving on it for 2 days, i can honestly say that i am very happy with the tone quality of the exhaust, it was exactly what i was wanting.
For comparison, I drove around for 3 or so days with no muffler, and the gibson exhaust is noticeably quieter than no muffler at all. The sound is rather deep on take off.
As for power increase, it seems to not have quiet the dead spot in power between 1.5K and 2K like it did stock. It still lingers but its not as bad.
Since I already had the stock muffler off, the install took me around 30 minutes, but thats because I was having issues getting the muffler to sit exactly perfect, and finding a cheater bar to ensure I am tightening the clamps down enough.
When compressing the video I forced it to minimize compression of the audio. (this seemed to be a common problem with alot of exhaust noise clips, lots of compression)
I found that with my desktop speakers i needed to turn up the sub woofer some to get closer to the resembled sound.

I have the Gibson too and love it, my brother got his from ebay but I wanted a valid warranty(the winter salt here destroys metal) so I got it here. gibson 17301, or you can try one of the vendors here on the forum, they are allways having sales/specials. Either way its a great system and very easy to install and for the price you give it a look.
