Default Foot Pegs (sheet metal too thin?)

I was thinking of getting a set of foot pegs (the kind that slip into the hole for the hinge) to rest my foot when doors are off, but before I do, has anyone run with them in a JK? I am concerned about the sheet metal buckling under the weight.

There was a guy selling these during the sites monthly ....swap meet??
They looked very well made. I just use the hinge myself.

I'm not sure about the ones you're looking at, but I saw some Jeepegs on e-bay. It looks like the pressure is evenly distributed.

Well its sort of hard to explain without a photo.. But the door hanging on the hinge doesnt apply forward pressure to the hinge/sheet metal..

This photo is from a TJ...

i hear what you mean about torquing the hinge brackets, but i think they can take the pressure

i understand what you are saying. the tj brackets are on the outside and it pushes into that. the jk is on the inside and would push right against the body. i m sorry but with our crappy paint jobs i m not about to push against the bady with my leg. i am trying to figure something out to bolt into the bracket of the door.

I would think that every time the door swings open it is putting torque on the bolts holding the hinge in. I agree with you about the stationary weight of the door but the swinging door has to be putting more stress with all of its weight in motion. I realize that you stop the door but not always. You have to figure that DC stressed it for the person who lets it swing in the wind.

Never used a hinge peg before but footrests on the harley were just that...rests.

Gee, I was out in the Pike National Forest, riding Slaughterhouse Gulch just yesterday when a TJ just behind me tipped over on the driver's side. Had he been riding with one of those foot pegs, the concern would've been whether red paint would match up with his smashed leg instead of the thickness of the sheet metal. It's your leg and all, but are you crazy? I'd sure think about riding with someone trained in major trauma first aid if I were you.

Will those even fit inside the JK brackets, where do you get them?
