Default Besttop Soft Doors Are Garbage..

Anyone else have the Bestop full soft doors? I tried intalling them tonight, and its impossible to get it lined up correctly, there is always a small gap at the bottom and even when I get the top of the doors lined up, when I do a rain test by spraying with a hose over the top of the Jeep after a few seconds water comes pouring in. Anyone have any ideas? Also the instructions say the top half of the doors are supposed to have an adjustment "collar" where the pins go into the lower half of the door, but there is nothing there, just the metal rods. Any help is appreciated cause I am two steps from packing em up and returning them.

I have them and I've posted on this subject before and I will say it again, the quality of these doors is no where close to what it should be for the 800 bucks they cost. Send em back. Bestop really dropped the ball on these doors.

The fit on them isn't perfect, but you'll definately need those adjustment collars to get the best fit. Bestop should send you some if you email or call.

If you're in a hurry, they're the same size as those on earlier Jeep windows. One of mine was missing and I had an extra in my "junk" box. You may also try the hardware store for some drill bit stops that are the same size. That's what they look like. Just measure the diameter of the shaft.

Are these doors any different than all the other doors they have ever made? I can't say the soft doors were ever any good but they kept the rain and snow out better than no doors. That's what I told myself all winter long for years.

The adjustment on the doors I had consisted of bending the frames. Sounds like they have added some sort of adjustment.

800 seems a lot for soft doors.

I am gunna call Bestop tomorrow about the adjustment collars, however I tried duct tape to hold the upper window where the adjustment collars would hold them and spray tested. Still has leaks. Now, thats not a problem if driving through a rain storm I would think but with the Jeep sitting outside and it raining while at work, it could easily soak the inside over time. Its seems to be leaking worst from the speaker area above the door hinges as the seal is not tight at all over there. Also, there are two gaps where light comes in at the bottom of the door. I read online everyone seems to have these gaps. also when you close the door the weather seal doesnt always mesh into place correctly, so I can see where sometimes the door would be sealed better than other times, unlike the seals on the hard doors that deal right every time. Is this the only game in town for full soft doors? Cause if it is...thats bad. My friend had the soft doors on his TJ and they are tight as a drum. Its seems like Bestop didn't even test these doors on the Jeep they fit so poorly.

I ran Bestop soft doors on my past TJs. Owned 2 seperate sets and both sets used on multiple TJs and never a problem. Yea I had to "adjust" them per directions (little bend here and there, use the collars) however once done, they were great. Kept 99% of water out. Yea they were loud but that's what I expected.

I agree with the statement above, sounds like the new shape of the JK is causing issues with the design. Give them a year and the new ones will fit better once they receive all these returned ones. Good luck with whatever you do with your current ones.
