AEM Intake in California - Pending C.A.R.B
I ordered an AEM Brute Force intake. The salesperson told me it is legal in California. Well as it turns out, it's not. It is pending approval from C.A.R.B. I verified this through AEM. AEM has sent in all the paperwork, but they don't know how long it will be until it gets approval. I can send the intake kit back at the expense of the seller since they misinfomred me, but I really would like to install it.
What are other California JK owners doing in regards to this? Would I run into any problems if I just installed it? Who would know? Would the dealer care if I took the Jeep in for service and they saw it? I'm guessing that it will be C.A.R.B. legal by the time I need to have the Jeep smogged. Even if it wansn't, I could just reinstall the original airbox befoe having it smogged. Anyway, I'd just like to hear what you guys think and what other's of you have done in regards to installing an intake in California.

That sucks ya'll....yes I just said Ya'll. Let that be a cue that I am from the good ol' pine tree and farm land rich state of Alabama. Where straight pipes and smog crap disconnected is the norm and cops just ignore it cause they own vehicles like em' too...
But my official response to the question is, Keep your stock stuff and swap it out when you have to make it all LEGAL and crap. Happy Jeepin'
