Default Shock opinions....advise??

Im ready now to get new shocks for my Jk I have the RC 2.5 budget boost but held off on shocks. Anybody have advise on what to buy and what definately what not to buy.

I dont do any hardcore off road...no rocks around here and only hit trails on occasion so something that handles better on the road but does decent on trails is what im looking for.

Thanks in advance

The Rough Country 2.2 shocks that you can get with your BB are actually pretty good. I've heard from a lot of guys that are happy with them. There were problems with the bushings falling apart on some of them, but I think that was just a supplier issue, it might be fixed by now.

Bilstein and Fox make great shocks as well.

If you get adjustable shocks you can soften the ride so if you don't ride to much you can keep them soft.

I've heard the same on the shocks mentioned above that RC 2.2 are pretty good shocks. Use the compression and entended lengths of the RC2.2 shocks when looking at other brands.

I thought about some adjustable shocks, who makes good ones. Are the Rancho's still good or is there something better....and what do they usually run $$?

I had the RC BB w/shocks b4 I bought the TF coil kit w/shocks, RCs shocks are not preloaded like the stockers or TF. Preloaded as when you compress the shock it entends to full length on its own.

Teraflex makes a great product, rides like the day I bought it. I got rid of the RC BB due to the shock bushings disintegrating after about 50 miles of driving on the road. The RC shocks are made by a big company just cant think of their name.

I just installed the RC 2.5 with their shocks last night and can tell you that the ride definitely improved and I lost none of the great handling I had with stock. I didn't hav e to adjust my track bar at all and my alignment was perfect as well. My new 33's arrive tomorrow, so I'll see then what if anything changes, but from stock suspension to the RC 2.5 on the same tires and wheels I had a noticeable improvement. I drive 100 interstate miles a day but I also took it on a 1/4 mile pot hole, rain washed, dippy and dumpy washboard dirt road at about 45mph and was very impressed with the ride. Ran the same road before the mod so I would have a fresh comparison 1 day apart . It's all good. I would recommend the RC 2.2's without hesitation.
hope this helps.
I really love the info on this forum!!
