Default tj winch plate

what is different about the tj winch plate that people are not using that when trying to mount a winch on the stock bumper? I picked up an xr8 today at a truck show and I am having the hardest time trying to pick out a bumper. So i figured i would run it on the stock bumper for now. I know i have seen people use the universal mount that comes with a champion or milemarker winch. whats wrong with the harbor freight $30 one? Are they just too short for the frame rails?

i didnt think there would be, but after doing many searches on here i couldnt find anything about it. just seems like it would be a more popluar option even for temporary purposes. the prices of jk winch plates are close to the prices of the cheaper bumpers, it craziness. harbor freight has one online for 39.99 plus shipping. dont think i can get one much cheaper than that anywhere else.

I think I payed like $50.00 for the one I got locally. That is the main reason I went this route also is because for a quality bumper is more then I am ready to spend.
