Default Cheap CB Antenna Mount

Used the Cool Tech theory and bought a $12 Mount at Radio Shack, $18 Antenna, and 20' of cable $10.(total $40)) The mount came as a 90 degree angle made of heavy aluminum. I sandwiched the outer part on the outside and put the 90 degree piece inside and bolted together. Then I ran a very good ground from mount to one of the bolts that go into the body, piece a cake. I feed the coax thru the hole with the grammot that the tail lights feed thru, under carpet & molding all the way to front.

I ordered the exact same radio, and I was thinking of putting it in the same spot, but then I realized I couldn't slide my seat up far enough for my liking with the radio there -- guess I have short legs...

I have a Cobra 75WX on order (or whatever the "remote mount" one is with all the controls on the handset).

Nice job on the antenna mount -- does it feel stable enough just being mounted to the lic. plate plastic? One nice thing about the cooltech one is that the bracket lets you mount it directly to the body, but then again you're paying twice as much.

I truly tested it on some real bad bumpy roads, 70 mph highway, and just all kind of (trying to make it fail), it didn't. I'm totally please with it, and I have the CB perfectly mounted for me, I pulled my seat up where I drive and hit that magic mounting spot. I just took a ride to test my radio reception and all I can say is WoW!....it's right on.

Nam, if you hit the back of that plate with some flat black paint you probably wouldn't be able to notice it. Good idea. I like it.
