Default How do black steel rims hold up?

After being totally disappointed with the way my MT Classic IIs didn't maintain their finish (I know they are only polished aluminum, but they became pitted and black over one winter), I was wondering about the wear and tear-ability of black steel rims - either crager or procomp.

Crager soft 8's are really cheap from Summit. I'd go with those and if you trash them they're alot less to replace. I've only had mine a couple weeks though.

Mine have held up just fine through the winter, as well as the trails, rocks, and mud!

We had a 2001 TJ with them on and ran them until we traded it last summer, so we had about 6 years on them. They help up fine, the chrome center caps looked like crap from the rust but the wheels were fine.

same here. every set of black steeelies i ever had held up well. had american racing, crager, and now procomp. just the chrome cap rusted quickly but those are $5. and if you do trash a wheel they are under $50.

Good thread, I am looking at getting some Cragar's myself, but not sure how they will hold up in Maine winters. Like motohead said though, they are less then $50.00.

Procomp isnt bad. real inexpensive and has like 8 welds. I heard that cragars have less welds. But thats what I heard.
