Question question about lifts and rear track bar

I have had my JK for two years and I would like to install a lift kit. I plan on a 2.5 inch lift (thinking about Skyjacker with Hydro shocks) and I am concerned that the rear track bar bracket adapter attached at the axle is going to fail. I don't plan on any off-roading beyond what the stock vehicle could do.

Any insight? Am I being paranoid? I'm no engineer but I do understand how changing the geometry of the suspension will affect the shear forcers on the bracket.

Last question: whatever the answer...would I expect any problems with the front track bar; especially if I upgrade the steering stabilizer?

Thanks!

If it were me , I'd just go ahead and get frt and rear adj trackbars, call it a day. That makes sure your axles are centered and your rig is driving right. One less thing to buy later if you decide to go higher. Upgrading your steering stabilizer doesn't have anything to do with your trackbar.

Course you could get frame mounted drop brackets frt and rear, cheaper than adj trackbars if you never plan on lifting more, If you do those you'd wanna still reinforce the stock brkts also. Bottom line is if you spend alittle more I think you'll be happier and have a safer conscience with the adj trackbars.

Or you could get on of the Teraflex kits that come with everything you need for 2.5 of lift. Sorry shoulda posted that sooner.

i would highly recommend that you NOT use the track bar relocation bracket that skyjacker provides. even with the reinforcement brace, there have been people on here who still suffered cracks in the factory mount. as mentioned, spend the money and get an adjustable track bar. i would not recommend getting a track bar drop bracket from another manufacturer as more times than not, they are not sized properly for the amount of lift you have and this can actually over correct your axle shift.

so WOL, I have the Skyjacker relic. Bracket and the brace
I was looking for an alternative . I just thought adjustable trackbars in the rear
Required at least 4" of lift. I have 3.5"- will the adj trackbar still put strain on the OE bracket? And what about a drop bracket from the frame ? Is that good?
I gotta get rid of the Skyjacker setup I was just pondering which way to go

Hey MKJeep - Thanks for the input...I was leaning towards just getting the adj track bars and you helped reinforce that. Any thoughts on the best/most reliable 2.5 inch lift kit?

I would suggest the Teraflex bracket. the heavy duty one that has a U bolt connected to the axle and bolts to the stock bracket. Thats the one I will be running.

Question

Thanks too WayofLife and RougeJK

I'd appreciate your choice of 2.5 inch lift kit too...the more I read the more I think the Teraflex is the right choice. I have never really seen a comparison anywhere...and I have looked -

Again, no intense off-roading expected..just trails, etc that the stock vehicle itself could handle - thanks again
