Which 4" Lift would you suggest...
I want to lift my 08 2dr JK X 4". I was looking for a mid to low range kit because the high end lift kits like Rubicon Express are way too expensive. Which kit would you guys suggest that would work well for both off-road and as a daily driver? I was looking at the 4" Rough Country or Superlift - does anyone currently have those? Also, any input on Skyjacker or Tera Flex? Thanks.
I have the Skyjacker 4" on my 07 2dr X. I am very happy with it. For about $1000, you get control arms, springs, brackets etc. I think I actually ended up with 5". Nowhere to wheel hard anywhere near me, so I've been pretty easy on it. Rides good on the street too.
I've run both the Full Traction 4" Ultimate and TeraFlex 4" Flex Arm lifts and can tell you that both are great kits. You should know that the TeraFlex lift will yield more like 5"+ and you can run 37's on it with ease. The Full Traction kit sits closer to 4"-4.5" and while it can run 37's, you may want to pick up a set of 1" spacers or a 1" body lift if you have heavy bumpers front and rear.
Having said all that, I have installed a Rough Country 4" lift and can tell you that it's a great starter kit. Likewise, I have seen the Superlift in action as well and the only thing I would recommend with both of these is that you get adjustable control arms to go with them. If money is a concern, get adjustable front lowers for now so that you can dial in your caster and if you get a new rear driveshaft, get a set of adjustable rear uppers as well so that you can set your pinion angle.
Of the people I personally know with Skyjacker lifts, I can tell you that all of them have had premature bushing failures and broken track bar mounts. Needless to say, none of them are happy with it and I would not recommend their this kit.

Depends on what you call a "mid to low range kit". Give us a budget. I think you should also factor in the cost of new driveshafts and adj. trackbar with a 4" lift, but I hear some folks are running ok (waiting for failure) without them. I love my Currie lift, but I spent more than just the cost of the lift on upgrading things that have been prone to failure. I am trying to "do it right" the first time, but my savings have suffered for it.

i am currently running pro comps 4" short arm kit on 33's and i have done the Rubicon, Moab, and Hollister with it no problems. Whatever kit you get i would strongly suggest getting one with new control arms. You won't regret the extra cash spent while your rubbing those arms all over the trail. There are several companies that make great kits, I got the pro comp kit just cuz it came with a free install but i am very happy with it. The sway bar disco is a pain and I would recomend siliconing the gasket in before connecting the disco. Also it squeaks a little bit but nothing major. Great kit here's a pic

the type of shocks you run with your lift kit will make a big difference in ride quality. of all the shocks i have ridden on, i really like the bilsteins and OME's. however, the rancho 9000X are adjustable and you can pretty much set them to where you want.

Thanks for the feedback on Skyjacker, I will not be looking into that one.
